For the families in your care.
This page is written for estate planning attorneys, wealth advisors, geriatric care managers, senior living directors, and the family advisors whose clients are already asking the question we exist to answer: what is passed down that is not money?
If your client is an older American whose family will inherit a legacy beyond their estate, Legacy & Quill is a serious option for them. This page explains how we work with you and how to introduce a client.
A historically unprecedented window — and a gift problem nothing in your practice can solve.
Two demographic facts are colliding in your client base. The 80+ population in the United States is projected to grow from 14.7 million today to nearly 23 million by 2035. And Cerulli Associates projects $124 trillion in wealth will transfer through 2048, most of it from your clients to their children and grandchildren.
In every estate-planning conversation, the technical question (what gets transferred and how) is now paired with a softer question your client may not yet know how to ask: how do my children remember who I was? A trust document protects what your client owned. It does not protect who they were.
We make the missing document. A printed family memoir — researched and written from twelve hours of recorded conversation, bound in linen, registered in the narrator's name with the US Copyright Office — is the legacy gift many of your clients are quietly ready to commission.
How we work with you.
When the legacy question comes up in conversation with a client, you mention that you know of a firm that does this work seriously. You give them our name. We take it from there. You are kept entirely out of the commercial relationship that follows.
We provide a printed two-page guide — “The Legacy Conversation” — that your firm may give to any client raising the question. Your logo on the front cover, our editorial on the inside. We supply printed copies at our cost.
You forward an email introducing your client by name, and we follow up within one business day. Standard practice in our experience: a one-sentence email from you, with our editor copied. Your relationship with the client is in no way altered by ours.
On ethics and confidentiality.
We understand that many of you are bound by professional rules that restrict cash referral arrangements with outside vendors — including, for New York attorneys, Rule 7.2 of the Rules of Professional Conduct. We do not pay cash referral fees and we do not ask you to accept any. The work is meant to stand on its own merit to your client.
What we do offer in return is reciprocity at the level of the work itself: every advisor who has introduced a client to us receives a complimentary printed sample book of our craft, an invitation to our annual private editorial reading in New York, and — once your client's memoir is complete — a gifted hardcover for your office shelf, sent with a handwritten note.
Client confidentiality is absolute. The fact that your client engaged us is not shared with anyone outside our editorial team. We never publish client names without explicit written permission. We never market to your clients again after the engagement concludes unless they themselves opt in. We hold standard professional indemnity and errors-and-omissions insurance, and we are happy to provide a certificate of insurance on request.
Three editions, openly priced.
8 sessions · 180–200 pp · 5 hardcover copies · 6-month delivery

Payment is in thirds: one third on signing, one third at draft approval, one third on delivery. The first third is non-refundable after the first interview session. For clients whose work is being funded from a family trust or charitable vehicle, we are happy to issue invoices to the disbursing entity.
One sentence is enough.
The simplest introduction is an email to editor@legacyandquill.com with your client copied. One sentence: “[Client] is considering commissioning a memoir for [parent/spouse] and asked for an introduction.” We take it from there.
If you prefer to speak with us first — to understand the work in detail before sending anyone in our direction — the discovery call is open to advisors as well as to clients:
